Taste: Rustic bark of wood lands your taste buds into the tropic forests of Sri Lanka. Exotic fruits with citrus zing refresh the mid-palate, to give way later to a very long, deep and rustic mouthfeel lasting for eternity. Complex and well-balanced this is a superb work of the house of Patrick Roger.
Its dry texture reminds of its sun-lashed climate in the South-East of India. Until 1972 known as Ceylon, the island has been the source of exotic spices (cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, mace), coffee, and other important gastronomic ingredients. Perhaps the most known is its tea. Tea plantation was introduced here by the British in the 19th century, yet the island’s biodiversity is one of the richest in the world so cocoa planted its roots in Sri Lanka as well. According to the Sri Lankan Spice CouncilSuitable conditions for growing cocoa are found in the Central, North Western, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, Western and Southern provinces up to 600m elevation“.
